Legion of Honor Wedding Locations
When you’re booking spaces at the Legion of Honor, occupancy ranges anywhere from a few dozen to several hundred. Some spaces, like the Court of Honor, can accommodate up to 600 people. Others, like the Balustrade Lawn and the Rodin Galleries, fit between 250 – 300 guests. Another thing to prepare for is certain ceremony spaces must be rented out with separate reception areas. The Balustrade Lawn is one example. If you book this space for your ceremony, you must also book one of the other rooms for your reception.
Court of Honor
At the very entrance of the Legion of Honor lies its stunning Court of Honor, completely surrounding you with elegant white columns and Rodin’s famous “The Thinker” statue acting as a fun security guard. The largest space for up to 450 – 600 guests that must be tented for receptions.
Balustrade Lawn
The large lawn in front of the Museum offers unparalleled views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands for ceremonies only up to 250 guests. Ceremonies can only be started at 6PM earliest to allow for the Museum to close properly and all patrons to leave.
Rodin Galleries
With several of Rodin’s sculptures surrounding you, this room is perfect for small weddings and receptions for up to 80 seated guests or 200 standing guests.
Terrace Level
The Terrace Level is one of the more common venues to rent for a wedding at Legion of Honor since it allows for three different areas of the Museum to be used, which includes the cafe which naturally acts as a reception ready location.
The Legion Of Honor Wedding Restrictions
The biggest potential restriction of holding a wedding at the Legion of Honor is the fact that the party might end sooner than you would like (11PM) given the priceless pieces around you. You have to choose a caterer from their list but otherwise any other vendor must be approved by the museum beforehand.
The Legion Of Honor Engagement Photos
The Legion of Honor is a popular location to visit for the interior, but arguably more impressive photographically on its exterior. With gorgeous white columns in their front courtyard, you can easily visit during and after business hours for photos. The architecture of this museum makes it one of the best places to shoot an engagement shoot in San Francisco.
Best Times for a Legion of Honor Wedding
