How to Plan a Wedding in Muir Woods

How to Plan a Wedding in Muir Woods Ultimate Guide for Planning a Wedding in Muir Woods (with pricing, photos, and video) Planning a wedding in Muir Woods is a dream for many nature-loving couples. The towering redwoods, calming atmosphere, and intimate environment create the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable celebration. However, organizing a wedding in this iconic park requires careful planning, from obtaining permits to understanding the limitations at this popular elopement venue. In this guide, you’ll learn everything you need to know to plan the perfect wedding in Muir Woods – step by step. TLDR Muir Woods is easily walkable and centrally located between San Francisco and Napa Valley. Muir Woods weddings allow a maximum of 30 guests and require advance permit approval. Wedding permits include a $60 non-refundable application fee, with additional costs depending on the event category, staffing, and park impact. Weddings in Muir Woods are done before 10AM or after 4:30PM and are ceremony only, with no reception allowed. Cell phone service is limited, so timelines, meeting points, and vendor communication should be planned ahead. Ceremony options are limited, making Muir Woods best for simple, intimate weddings. Why a Wedding in Muir Woods  Muir Woods is a stunning location to visit, let alone get married in. The picturesque nature of Muir Woods and the central location between San Francisco and Napa Valley makes it a very popular spot to celebrate. It’s incredibly well-maintained (1.5 miles of ramps and mostly flat trails make it very easy to walk) and only allow ceremonies before 10AM or after 4:30PM, ensuring you and your guests have more privacy. A Muir Woods Elopement There are few areas more perfect and convenient than a Muir Woods elopement. An elopement in this Bay Area forest means you and your partner can have the perfect outdoor wedding surrounded by centuries old trees. Eloping here allows you time to focus on intention while allowing for some awesome photography. It’s an ideal location for a wedding that combines a love of the outdoors and an appreciation for nature. photo by Ian Chin Photography How to Book a Muir Woods Wedding Permit Application: Fill out a permit application at this site ($60 non – refundable application fee)Email: goga_permits@nps.gov Note: Submitting an application does NOT mean your permit request has been approved It takes 4-15 business days for initial permit application review Once your permit is approved, it can take several months for your permit specialist to write your permit NPS accepts applications up to a year in advance Muir Woods Fees / Muir Woods Wedding Permit and Size Muir Woods is a national park, so you will still need to complete a permit (starting at $60). Regardless of the size of your group (even if it’s just the marrying couple and an officiant), all events need to be processed and approved in advance, with appropriate permits Permits are required for any size group (maximum of 30 guests) Muir Woods Wedding Venue Restrictions Firstly, there is very LITTLE TO NO CELL SERVICE in this park so keep this in mind! Given the nature of the Park, no animals, chairs, decor, music, or reception is allowed. Having a wedding in Muir Woods means it is strictly a standing ceremony location (although there are a few benches) so plan on a reception elsewhere (read below for recommendations). Muir Woods Elopement Packages My photo packages start at $1400, and associate photographer packages start at $1000 for up to 2 hours. Videography packages start at $1000 which include a 2 – 3 minute highlight reel and all unedited footage. Presidio Golf and Concordia Club Wedding

Presidio Golf and Concordia Club Wedding Presidio Golf and Concordia Club 8 Presidio Terrace,  San Francisco, CA 94118 (415) 221-8833 memberservices@pgccsf.com Having a Presidio Golf and Concordia Club wedding is a great choice for those who desire a rustic atmosphere and have a smaller sized guest count for their big day. Naturally having great customer service since it is a golf club with hundreds of members, you should have no problem customizing your wedding day to fit your needs. Overlooking the golf course, the ceremony room is on the tighter size and can squeeze in about 60 guests shoulder to shoulder. This area is situated to the left of the front desk. To the right of the desk is the main dining hall, which is approximately 6 times as large as the ceremony room, offering more window views of the natural landscape outside. The top floor / getting ready floor is a complete suite and covers the entire level, with the bridal room occupying the corner room and is adjacent to a kitchen for your pre-party needs. This also has a small window that overlooks the parking and golf course. The lower level is where the restrooms are located and where the venue shows itself as a golf club with showers and individual lockers. This building is one of the smaller sized wedding venues in San Francisco, so it fits perfectly to the Couples who have a smaller wedding size and don’t need all the bells and whistles of a larger or more elaborate location. It is conveniently located at the edge of the Inner Richmond district and the Presidio, so guests from out of town can easily drive the Presidio to get views of the San Francisco Bay or the Golden Gate Bridge. It is definitely one of the more hidden venues as I literally grew up a 7 minute drive away from here and never knew it existed! Conclusion This venue caters comfortably to crowds less than 100, has a more rustic interior, and is one of the more affordable golf club venues in the City. Not the most elaborate of venues, but the staff I’ve experienced first hand provides excellent service all around. If you are considering a golf course / country club wedding venue in San Francisco, read below for the steps on planning a wedding at this elegant venue. Why a wedding at The Olympic Club? An Olympic Club wedding is my preferred choice for a country club wedding venue in the San Francisco Bay Area, catering to those Couples who love the naturally lit interior with floor to ceiling windows that grace the ceremony area. Having photographed here several times, I have come to realize why it is where Barack Obama has golfed while visiting San Francisco, as the venue itself is so well maintained, the staff is on point, and the location of it by the ocean affords it some stunning views especially during sunset. This post is talking about the Lakeside Clubhouse specifically, since there is also another Olympic Club location (the City Clubhouse) in the heart of San Francisco. Swedenborgian Church

Swedenborgian Church Wedding Swedenborgian Church2107 Lyon StreetSan Francisco, CA 94115 415 533 5714office@sfswedenborgian.org Located in the middle of Pacific Heights, a Swedenborgian Church wedding is perfect for the Couple that would like to tie the knot in a stunning chapel. It’s one of those venues that makes you feel closer to your guests, since its rustic warm candlelit interior adds to a more intimate wedding setting. It is also one of the more dimly lit churches I have ever been to, which only adds to the solemnity of the celebration. Stunning chandeliers lit with candlesticks hover over the guests and surround the entire altar, bringing a feeling of warmth and love.  Attached to the church is the Parish House, which could be used as the reception area. The floor plan includes just the right amount of space for guests to sit and be close enough to mingle. The space of this hall is perfect for weddings of 50 – 70 guests. And right outside of it is the lawn, popular for cocktail hour and bar and dessert vendors.  This gorgeous venue has such rich detail throughout and provides non secular weddings for everyone. An online review from a former visitor mentions, “great for even the non-religious” as she goes on to say that she, herself is not religious but “knew it was the right perfect place.” If you are interested in other locations similar to Swedenborgian Church, take a look at these other Church wedding venues   Swedenborgian Church Wedding Photos Swedenborgian Church Weddings on the Blog Brian and KristinRichard and Aaron

Stanford Memorial Church Wedding

Stanford Memorial Church Wedding Stanford Memorial Church450 Serra Mall, Stanford, CA 94305 (650) 723-1762religious-life@stanford.edu Thinking of having a Stanford Memorial Church wedding and looking for inspiration? This is one of the best church wedding venues in the San Francisco Bay Area with its stunning architectural design, inside and out, and location on the Stanford University campus. With its walls full of impressive artwork, high ceilings, and stunning natural light flowing through dozens of stained glass windows, you really get a sense of elegance and sophistication. Right outside the Church is a little garden to serve as a quiet place to take photos or to reflect on your new relationship. With its central location on a university campus, Stanford Memorial Church can naturally accommodate hundreds of guests for your wedding, but also offers rare balcony seating to get an overhead view of the altar. Unless you have thousands of guests at your wedding, this area will not be available for your guests, but for the photographer it allows unnoticeable movement during the ceremony to provide more angles to capture. Unlike other Churches, however, one thing to note from a photographer’s perspective is that they strictly limit photographer access. In fact, they designate a line roughly halfway to the back of the Church and DO NOT permit any access closer to the altar. I have photographed here before and there is someone who is watching to ensure I am not moving up the down the aisles. This isn’t a problem, since I have the appropriate gear to document your wedding day despite the restrictions, but is something to be aware of beforehand. While an obviously gorgeous venue all around, its location around the Peninsula may put it at a disadvantage to some Couples.
